Project Title: MISSION MART
Client name: Souls Harbour Rescue Mission The Challenge: SHRM, a charitable organization in Nova Scotia, was looking for a steady and reliable revenue source to support its invaluable mission and community outreach to the homeless of Nova Scotia. (Research SHRM for more details). Project Details: In October of 2017 I was hired on contract by the CEO of SHRM. She dreamed of opening a full service Thrift Store in HRM. In only 13 months, the dream became a reality. My role included securing property in the prime location of Bayers Lake, negotiating the contract for land development, and overseeing Lindsay Construction in building the detailed store design and layout. I was also responsible for fundraising, event planning, marketing, stocking the store with donated items, hiring staff, and organizing and attending the grand opening in November, 2018, while simultaneously serving as the Director of Business Development for SHRM. Outcomes: SHRM is a publicly relevant and noticed entity in NS. It is supported and recognized by politicians, donors, institutions, media, and others. Within seven months of opening, Mission Mart revenue skyrocketed to 1M - well above my 12 month forecasted budget and my wildest dreams. The operation is still going strong. I am very proud to have had this opportunity to bring my expertise and knowledge to a valuable and needed community outreach in HRM.
